12.Pedodontics Preventive Dentistry

Preventative dentistry is an aspect of dentistry in which the importance of oral hygiene is highly re-enforced. At Priyans dental clinic, we want to see you smile. We strive to help you meet your expectations in dentistry, which is why we encourage all of our patients to make sure they are taking proper care at home and following some common preventative dentistry protocols for healthy teeth and gums.

Preventive measures save you from spending in thousands on correcting issues that would have never occurred had you have adopted preventative dentistry measures early on. The most beneficial action you can take in preventing any issue with the mouth is standard care at home. Many issues with our mouth happen behind the scenes. Why? Because we only take action when we feel pain. However, by regularly visiting your dentist you can approach problems before they arise. It saves you time, money, and suffering.

Some preventive measures are:-

  • Brush twice a day (morning and night) for roughly 3 - 4 minutes each session. Those 5- 8 minutes of your day can be considered an investment.

  • Use toothpaste that contains fluoride.

  • Floss at least once a day (preferably every time after a meal is consumed).

  • Limit the amount of sweets you consume. We recommend avoiding carbohydrates or sugar found pre-dominantly in processed foods.

  • Schedule appointments twice a year with your dentist (every 6 months).

  • Replace your toothbrush –at least once every 2-3 months, as bacteria will build up once the brush becomes less effective.
